Legacy Bible

We have all seen families pass heirlooms to younger generations. Have you considered passing a Bible? During a funeral, a very godly friend graduated to heaven. My godly friend was always in his Bible.  He had one Bible that included all of his hand written notes. The problem was that he had two sons. Both of the sons were (and are) good godly men but admitted that they both wanted “Dad’s Bible.” They ended up deciding to share it and copy dad’s notes.

What is a Legacy Bible Plan? A plan to utilize the number of Bibles that corresponds to your children. My plan is to utilize two identical Bibles for my studying and preaching. As I take notes in one Bible, I will add those same notes to the other Bible. I will be seen preaching from both throughout the years.  When my children have a special moment in life (marriage, graduation, ministry, etc.) I will attempt to pass the Bible on to that child.  I have two children so I will maintain two Bibles.  Why should you consider a Legacy Bible?

1. Continual Message. What message do you want to leave your family? My hope and heart is that my lineage will respect, love and follow the Bible. If I could share anything with my great great grandchildren, then it would be God’s word.

2. Being Intentional. Your family will take something from your life. Be intentional in the message and the direction that they receive from you. Let it be God’s Word that so richly guided your life.

3. Consider Each Family Member. Each family member is different to you. What will your lasting impact be on their life? I would like to make sure that each of my immediate family have a copy of the most intimate possession, which is my Bible. I use it, read it, memorize it and lean on it every day.

4. Your Children Love You. They know your Bible is your prized possession. When they learn that you have spent so much time and effort on their Legacy Bible, then they will always be reminded of your love for them.
